Water Apple (Syzygium samarangense)
Also known as Java apple, wax jambu, or bell fruit, the water apple is a tropical fruit prized for its crisp texture and refreshing juiciness. Despite the name, it is not related to apples — its flesh is light and airy, with a subtle sweetness and an incredibly hydrating bite.
These fruits have a naturally glossy red skin and a bell-like shape. Their flavor is often described as a cross between a mild pear and a cucumber, with hints of rose and melon depending on ripeness. The experience is more about texture and refreshment than intense sweetness, making them a favorite in hot climates.
Water apples are native to Southeast Asia and are now cultivated in tropical regions like South Florida. Ours are grown organically and picked fresh in season, with no chemicals or wax coatings — just pure, crisp fruit the way nature intended.
Enjoy them chilled for an ultra-refreshing snack, or slice them into salads and fruit platters for a unique tropical twist.
